    There was actually a picture of a sun in this weekends forecast, after 13 weekends of rain. Either way, there are a lot of reasons for visiting Hubbards this weekend.


    The Gratto will have Derrick Le Lecheur on stage from 6:30 - 8:30 on Friday evening, and on Saturday it is Music Bingo starting at 7:00. Also tickets are now being sold for their Singer Songwriter Sunday - next Sunday, June 22nd at 2:00 with Kim Dunn and Glenda Joy. For tickets, information, reservations, call 902-857-1201.


    Foggy Fridays return to the Tuna Blue with FOG this Friday from 8:00 - 10:30. On Saturday enjoy Jackson Weldon from 6:30 - 9:30. For reservations call 902-857-1790.


    Saturday morning (8:00 am - Noon) head for The Barn for the weekly Farmers Market. With over 50 vendors, live music and lots of free parking, it is a nice way to start your Saturday morning.

    Coming up at The Barn, on Thursday June 19th, plan to attend the Hubbards Barn Food Fair from 4 - 8 pm. There will be Food Trucks, food vendors, beer, wine, spirits, confections, hot and cold beverages, take-away and ready to eat, jams, pickles, sauces, spices, and more. Live music, and cash bar. Suggested donation $2. Everyone welcome.


    On Saturday, there will be a Father's Day Lunch at St. Luke's Church on Shore Club Road from 11:00 - 1:30. The menu includes pulled pork sandwiches, coleslaw, a choice of delectable pies and coffee/tea. Admission is by donation.


    Saturday afternoon drop by Black Harbour Distillers for an afternoon with Jackson Weldon from 1 - 4 pm. There is a great menu at Alexandra's Pizza, enjoy a flight of cocktails from the distillery all to some great tunes. Later Saturday the Distillery will be hosting a Drag Night starting at 8:00.     Saturday night, the Shore Club is really pleased to welcome back Nova Scotia's #1 dance band The Mellotones. The Mellotones have been bringing their high-octane party to stages around the World for over two decades. Combining powerful vocals, dynamic horns, and a smooth rhythm section with a catalogue that dives deep into the history of soul, funk, disco and R&B, they keep the dance floor hopping all night long. Tickets ($15) are only available at the door and the doors open at 9:30. Plan to arrive early as this is going to be a busy one.

    Don't forget that Sunday is Father's Day, and you can treat Dad to the fabulous Surf and Turf Special at the Shore Club, enjoy fresh lobsters boiled in ocean water and served pre-cracked with melted butter, a pound of fresh cultivated mussels steamed in wine and garlic butter, a 6 oz. steak, all-you-can-eat salad bar, a choice of dessert and coffee/tea.     Sunday morning the "Father's Day Ride for Hope" kicks off at 8:30 for registration and the Ride starts at 9:00. There are two options: 1. The Aspotogan Loop which is a picturesque 50 km ride around the Aspotogan Peninsula, complete with van support and nutrition breaks, or 2. The Family Fun Ride which is up to 15 km along the trail.     A new concert has just been added to the Shore Club summer schedule, as the legendary alternative hip-hop artist k-os will be onstage Thursday July 10th. 'Party On K-OS' inventive sound has been classified as "alternative hip hop," and draws influence from rock, pop, soul, jazz, reggae, R&B, and electronic music. He writes his own material and his albums are largely self-produced. K-OS is full-steam ahead with the recent re-release 'Joyful Rebel Lion+' celebrates the 20th anniversary of his breakthrough album, Joyful Rebellion (2004) that include the hits such as 'Crabbuckit', 'Man I Used To Be', 'B-Boy Stance' and 'EMCEE Murdah.' With multiple JUNOS and a Grammy nomination under his belt, K-OS has been an important part of the Canadian music scene for decades.

Andre Pettipas is best known as the frontman for Andre Pettipas and The Giants. Andre has performed over 150 shows in 2024 across Canada; this is in large part due to his versatility and love for entertaining. Andre has accumulated multiple ECMA nominations with the Giants. He is currently working on his debut solo album, 'Drejavu' and is touring his recent single, 'Gypsophila' featuring Jeremy Taggart (Our Lady Peace.) Andre also spearheads the festival, 'Giantstock' which takes place annually in Merigomish, Nova Scotia. Tickets are now on sale at www.ShoreClub.ca


    On Monday June 16th, the Hubbards Area Business Association will be hosting their AGM at Scotia Curry. There will be a Meet and Greet starting at 6:00 with food and refreshments along with a cash bar, followed by the meeting at 7:00. All are welcome and it is free to attend.
