AN AFFIRMING PARISH:
We are a parish that welcomes people of all gender identities and sexual orientations as children of God, each one a unique reflection of God's image.
PRIMATE'S WORLD RELIEF & DEVELOPMENT FUND:
We support this agency as it works to
increase healthy pregnancies & births, reduce gender inequality, relieve hunger, break the cycle of poverty in
the world's most vulnerable communities & respond to disasters such as the flooding & fires in B.C.
TWO COVES CAFE:
Since its inception in July 2021 this weekly gathering with complimentary tea, coffee,
muffins and inclusive fellowship activities has attracted new members on a regular basis. Muffins have been
delivered to the homes of regular attendees when the cafe has had to be closed for a period of time. All
donations that are generated go to where there is the greatest need
MISSION To SEAFARERS Halifax:
Each year our Parish supports their Christmas Shoe Box Campaign.
Church volunteers organize & collect specific items & monies to be used for purchasing items for the Shoe
Boxes. They are then delivered to the Mission To Seafarers for the distribution to ships that visit the port
over the holidays. This brightens up the holidays for the seafarers & lets them know we are thinking about
them.
PHONE Call MINISTRY:
Volunteers reach out to parishioners to see how they are doing especially during
the pandemic. Information is provided on the current church protocols & other church news.
CARD MINISTRY:
People who are undergoing bereavement, illness, injury, or a troubled time for any
reason receive a card with a message of encouragement which reminds them that others care and they are not
alone.
ANTI-VIOLENCE AWARENESS CAMPAIGN:
An awareness campaign was held to promote awareness of
violence against women and girls.
BREAD MINISTRY:
A volunteer delivers a loaf of bread to a community member which gives rise to an
opportunity for conversation and companionship.
MEDITATION GROUP:
To reinforce calmness, relaxation, and a healthy psychological balance, plans are
underway to form a meditation group that will meet on a regular basis.
BUTTERFLIES AND BEES:
Initiatives are being taken to make the parish properties more environmentally
friendly beginning with a small pollinator-attractive perennial garden plot located beside St. Luke's church.
LOCAL FOOD BANK:
We support the Food Security efforts of our local food bank by collecting and
delivering food items and encouraging cash donations continually through the year.
PROVIDE MEETING SPACE FOR COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS:
The Parish Hall is made available for
meetings to several organizations such as "established self-help" groups, Girl Guides, Brownies and
Sparks.
